GNR and Pingo Doce donated Easter baskets to vulnerable community in Faro

Together, they distributed 100 food baskets of essential goods to elderly people identified in the ‘2023 Senior Census Operation’.

The National Republican Guard (GNR) and Pingo Doce supermarkets delivered baskets of essential food items to elderly people living in isolated or vulnerable situations in the district of Faro this Easter.

The Faro Territorial Command of the GNR distributed 100 food baskets containing essential goods like pasta, rice, tuna, biscuits, and tea to elderly people identified in the ‘2023 Senior Census Operation’.

This initiative is part of a protocol signed in 2022 between the GNR and Pingo Doce. The goal is to strengthen relations and develop local initiatives to combat isolation, loneliness, and food shortages often affecting this age group.

Since the beginning of the partnership, the two organisations have distributed approximately 8,000 baskets during the Easter and Christmas holidays as part of a campaign aiming to maintain proximity and bring a little comfort to elderly people in a situation of isolation and loneliness.
