Albufeira has officially presented its bid to be named a European City of Sports in 2026, a title held most recently in the Algarve by Portimão in 2019.
Local mayor José Carlos Rolo says this is the “first phase of the bid,” to be followed by the presentation of the “full dossier” in October and a visit from the commission which will evaluate the bid.
“Meanwhile, we will continue investing in the improvement of infrastructures and sports activities (…),” the mayor adds.
