Hotel is located in the centre of Albufeira
The Mercan Group has taken over Hotel Califórnia Urban Beach in Albufeira as part of a €13 million investment which will also include renovations.
In a statement to the press, the group says the hotel’s 31 jobs will be safeguarded as Mercan continues to strengthen its position in the Algarve, where it already owns Hotel Indigo Faro Ribeirinha, Lagos Marina Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, Marriot Lagos and the future Hard Rock Hotel in Portimão, due to open in 2026.
Hotel Califórnia Urban Beach has been under the management of Ace Hospitality Management – a company owned by Mercan Group – since May 2023. It is located in the centre of Albufeira near Praia dos Pescadores and a 15-minute walk away from the local marina. Its amenities include an outdoor pool with a view of Albufeira, a spa with an indoor heated pool and a massage and beauty treatments service.
The hotel is the latest asset to join the Mercan portfolio, which currently features 31 developments in several areas of Portugal, from the Algarve to Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Matosinhos, Lisbon, Amarante, Santiago do Cacém, Évora, Beja and Madeira. The group’s presence extends to over 30 countries across the world.
