The 2023 accounts of the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) were unanimously approved by the General Assembly on Monday, showing a positive balance of €991,000.
In a statement, the president of the RTA, André Gomes, cited that the “approval of the accounts by the General Assembly demonstrates the recognition and appreciation of the campaigns carried out by the entity throughout 2023”.
The director emphasises that the positive outcome shows effective and efficient financial management of resources despite the budget limitations placed on regional tourism organisations.
According to the RTA, the management report provides a detailed analysis of the financial and budget performance in 2023. It emphasises the legal certification of the accounts, positive equity status, and control of personnel expenses.
“Its approval reflects RTA’s commitment to aligning itself with the strategic references defined for national tourism”, he pointed out.
The General Assembly also approved the activities report, which includes a series of actions to strengthen regional tourism growth. These actions focus on diversifying offers, promoting sustainability, and enhancing the cultural and natural heritage of the Algarve.
Last year, the entity conducted 40 promotional campaigns for the destination, held 11 discussion sessions, participated in 40 projects, supported 180 events, and engaged with over 330 businesspeople.
2023 also saw 1,700 publications on various online promotional and informational channels, while the tourist office network served 380,000 visitors.
“The results obtained demonstrate sustainable regional growth in the main indicators, with the results surpassing the final 2022 numbers and highlighting the desired recovery in line with the rest of the territory”, concludes the RTA.
