LED lighting system “at the level of the best in the country”
A new LED lighting system described as “at the level of the best in the country” has been unveiled at Estádio Capitão Josino da Costa in Lagoa.
The €350,000 investment was inaugurated following the promotion of local football club Grupo Desportivo de Lagoa from the regional leagues to Portugal’s fourth tier Campeonato de Portugal.
“It is an investment that was planned for some time, and which is of great importance to the development of sports in the municipality,” said Lagoa mayor Luís Encarnação.
With the new lighting system, matches played at the stadium can be filmed with the necessary quality to be broadcast on television, the council says, adding that it also offers an “above average energy efficiency,” can be controlled remotely and can be turned on instantly.
The new system also improves the training and playing conditions for the “hundreds of athletes who use the Estádio Capitão Josino da Costa field” on a daily basis and “creates the conditions for Lagoa to host even more training camps by national and international teams,” the council adds.
