Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy to visit Portugal in coming days

Zelenskyy will take advantage of working visit to Spain to sign agreement in Lisbon (Update May 14: trip cancelled for time being)

Breaking news this morning is that Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to visit Portugal within the next few days.

The Ukrainian head of State is due to be in Spain this week, to sign a bilateral security agreement on guaranteeing military support to his country in the medium term. It is understood that he will take advantage of the geographical proximity to Portugal to travel to Lisbon in order to sign a similar agreement with the Portuguese government.

Details of the visit are being kept under wraps for reasons of security (Ukraine very recently revealed yet another plot to assassinate Mr Zelenskyy had been foiled).
