The little parish of Turiz, Vila Verde, suffered major damage in the early hours of this morning when a gas bottle, stored in a garage, exploded, rendering the house above ‘uninhabitable’. According to reports, two cars belong to inhabitants of the house were “totally destroyed” – one being buried under rubble, while two neighbouring houses suffered “considerable damage to windows and doors” and various other homes “less significant damage”. In all 11 properties were affected, one considerably, but mercifully, no one appears to have been injured.
