Lagoa Wine Show returns in June

Some of Portugal’s best wines are showcased at the Lagoa Wine Show

Lagoa has announced the return of its popular Wine Show between June 7 and 10.

For four days, the town’s ‘red’ Coronel Figueiredo street will come to life with renowned winemakers from across Portugal showcasing their creations, as well as typical Algarve cuisine and live entertainment.

Some of the “biggest names of Portuguese music and contemporary Fado” have been confirmed as performers this year, including Cuca Roseta, Bonga, Virgem Suta, Azeitonas and the “unmistakable voices” of Luana Velasquez, Teresinha Landeiro and Cremilde Medina and the Flamenco performances of Anabel Veloso.

The event’s famous ‘Fado à Janela’ initiative, which sees Fado singers perform from balconies or windows along the main street, will also make its return, as well as daily showcooking events with renowned chefs.

“The Lagoa Wine Show is already one of the most emblematic wine shows of the south of the country in which (…) the most renowned winemakers from several winemaking regions participate, with a special focus on Algarve region wines,” Lagoa’s municipal council says in a statement to the press.

The Algarve region has, more and more, an enormous notoriety in the wine world, a result of the deserved acknowledgement it has received through the several prizes it has won in prestigious national and international competitions,” it adds.

The Lagoa Wine Show is free to visit and will run from 7pm to midnight.
