Everyone can relax: the ‘shock/ horror scenario’ of Portugal being excluded from Schengen Space over the summer, due to delays in installing new digital and biometric border control systems, has been bypassed, assures the country’s Internal Security System (SSI). In a statement issued today, the intelligence agency confirms that the European Commission “guarantees that it is cooperating with all member States, including Portugal, and there is no scenario of our country being suspended from the Schengen area”.
