Portugal’s AD government has revealed its plan for dealing with the number of children without teachers. It wants to lure retired teachers back into ‘part time work’, and make use of any immigrants who were teachers in their countries of origin. Outlining the ‘+Aulas+Sucesso’ programme, education minister Fernando Alexandre dubbed the lack of teachers for all subjects in schools as “a national drama”. Opposition parties have not yet ‘responded’ to this idea, but elsewhere PS Socialists are doing their best to shoot down almost every single AD initiative.
