Rede Expressos links Algarve to several European cities

Algarve will be linked to several European cities by Rede Expressos this summer

Rede Expressos has announced several new bus links between the Algarve and other European cities this summer.

Starting in July, the bus company will run bus routes between the Algarve and the cities of Rennes and Nantes (France), Brussels (Belgium) and Zurich (Switzerland), it announced on Monday.

The bus company said in a statement that the new connections will start on July 2 and are being launched due to the fact that the Algarve “is a tourist region that generates large flows of people during the summer season”.

The new routes to and from the Algarve will run three times a week, in both directions, with Nantes, Zurich and Brussels by day and Rennes by night, the company explained.

According to Rede Expressos, it was decided to “maintain a promotional campaign of fares at €3.95 and allow all express ticket holders to also travel for free on the regional VAMUS network in order to improve local mobility during the holidays”.

“The Algarve is a tourist hotspot during the summer period, both for nationals and foreigners, so Rede Expressos decided (…) to promote the mobility of all those travelling to the region, involving our regional partner VAMUS Algarve,” said Carlos Oliveira, general director of Rede Expressos, quoted in the press release.

The bus stops in the Algarve with connections to European cities include Faro and Gago Coutinho airport, Lagos, Portimão, Albufeira, and Tavira.

According to the company, passenger transport by road to Spain and France increased by more than 20% between March and May compared to the same period in 2023.

“Forecasts for the summer already point to an increase of more than 50% in passengers and, from June 17, a 39% increase in international services by the company,” concludes the company’s note.
