President of Institute for Financial Management of Education resigns under cloud of suspicion

An alleged fraud of €2.5 million euros has led today to the resignation of the President of the Institute for the Financial Management of Education (IGeFE), the Ministry of Education has said in a statement. The statement read: “The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation learnt today that the Institute for the Financial Management of Education (IGeFE) has been the target of fraud involving the transfer of funds totalling 2.5 million euros, which is already being investigated by the competent authorities” (in this case, PJ judicial police). At issue are three bank transfers made this month to pay a company that provides IT services, with the funds having been transferred to an IBAN belonging to another organisation.
