Ferragudo opens temporary 80-space car park

Parking becomes more of a challenge in the summer in tourist hotspots such as Ferragudo

Ferragudo has opened a new temporary car park at the entrance of the village with 80 spaces.

The car park is located on land owned by Margudo, which holds the concession for the future marina of Ferragudo and came to an agreement with the local parish council to provide the space for this new parking area.

The investment in new signposting, a portico, cleaning and fencing around the car park totalled €10,000, said the parish council.

The need for parking in tourist towns increases exponentially with their notoriety, as the rise in tourist traffic, combined with the needs of local residents, tends to reduce the availability of parking near services and restaurants,” it added.

Meanwhile, in a bid to improve and increase parking in the riverside area, the parish council, along with Lagoa municipal council, carried out the resurfacing of the entrance to the Angrinha car park with gravel and increased the available spaces for parking.
