The new Almancil store joins the four existing LIDL supermarkets in Loulé, becoming the chain’s 18th store in the Algarve.
Lidl Portugal is continuing its investment in the south of the country with the opening of another new store in the municipality of Loulé. Located on the main road in Almancil (Avenida 5 de Outubro), this store and the changes to the public space involved an investment of over 8 million euros.
Lidl Portugal has recruited almost 30 new employees to join the team at this new store, who will have a solid employment contract, which includes the offer of a permanent contract and access to training and excellent career opportunities within the company.
Lidl now has almost 500 employees in the Algarve region. Following the construction line of the current Lidl store concept, the new Almancil store was built from scratch. It offers customers a modern and pleasant space with a fully glazed façade that brings more light into the area and wider corridors that improve circulation in the sales section.
The Almancil store also features a basement car park to protect cars from the sun and rain, ensuring complete comfort for daily and weekly shopping.
With a sales area of 1,400 square meters (m2), it provides easy access to innovative, high-quality products and services at the best price, such as a bakery area with a bread-cutting machine, where dozens of varieties of bread and pastries are available daily. Customers also have access to a natural orange juice machine that provides a healthy, freshly squeezed drink and a cod-cutting area.
In addition to the food products on offer, the store also has a wide range of non-food items, from Parkside tools to textiles and kitchen utensils. And in these early summer days, you will also find everything you need for your outdoor space and your trips to the beach. In addition to traditional checkouts, the store also offers six self-checkout systems for speedy payments. Among these, three are equipped to accommodate shopping carts, catering to customers who prefer this convenience.
Sustainability is key
The commitment to sustainability has not been forgotten. The store is equipped with LED lighting and a photovoltaic panel. The car park has two electric vehicle charging stations. Each station can charge two vehicles simultaneously, replenishing the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for a quick shopping trip.
To celebrate this opening, Lidl will offer a €5 voucher to all customers registered on the Lidl Plus app for a discount on a minimum purchase of €35 in this store for the first two weeks, valid for seven days.
In addition to this offer, all users of the Lidl Plus app can access information about Lidl and its products. They can check out the leaflets firsthand on Sundays, obtain digital receipts to reduce paper emissions and help protect the planet, check the opening hours and store locations, create shopping lists, view recipes, and take part in competitions, partnerships, prizes, coupons, and extra discounts with maximum convenience – all accessible with a simple click.
LIDL supports the community and combats food waste
As part of the partnership with the Realimenta programme, and with the dual objective of supporting the community and combating food waste, the new store in Almancil will benefit the Algarve Food Bank, of which Lidl has been a partner since 2018. In 2023, the retailer delivered a total of 28.3 tons of goods to around 1,280 beneficiaries in the municipality of Loulé.
The store is located on Avenida 5 de Outubro, Vale das Éguas, Almancil, and is open daily from 08h00 to 21h00. The car park has capacity for 95 spaces.
