Railworkers ordered to ensure 25% of services during strike on Friday

Portugal’s Arbitration Tribunal has ordered mandatory minimum passenger rail services of around 25% for a planned strike on Friday by employees of State company CP – Comboios de Portugal – in which members of several trade unions are expected to take part. CP employees are being called out to press for better career structures, according to a document signed by more than 10 union organisations. The court’s ruling on this strike covers a list of services that must be assured: 23% of timetabled long-distance services on Friday ‘must be provided’, 25% of regional trains, 25% of Lisbon and Porto suburban services, an 24% of Coimbra suburban services.
