The government’s ‘takeover’ of the former Caixa Geral de Depósitos premises in Lisbon – now rebranded CAMPUS XX1 – will save around €20 million, as it will allow for multiple ministries to work out of the same premises. Talking to journalists this morning as, minister of the presidency Leitão Amaro said “in a normal year, we’ll save around €19 to €20 million just in space costs, rents, logistics, cleaning, security, electricity, car fleet”, etc. With the minister for youth and modernisation, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, at his side, Amaro stressed that this concentration is an “opportunity to save taxpayers money”. For the time being six ministries and two ‘secretariats of State’ are using the building.
