Tanya McGarrell was an “integral part of Play in the Parque”
This year’s Play in the Parque, “Robin in the Hood”, has been postponed until Friday, September 27 due to the “sudden and unexpected death of our dear friend Tanya McGarrell,” Aljezur International School has announced.
“Not only was Tanya an integral part of Play in the Parque every year since 2007, she was also a close friend of many of us in our school family for many years. As well as this, Tanya was our examinations administrator for the past two years and has been a regular visitor and guest teacher in school since 2010” the school says.
Since 2006, the annual Play in the Parque has become an unmissable event in the Algarve calendar. Produced by Aljezur International School, the cast of this outdoor theatre production includes students, parents and teachers as well as members of the local community.
However, the school relies on a “a big team of people to make the Play in the Parque happen” and “Tanya’s loss is simply too raw for everyone involved” for the play to go ahead as planned on this Friday, it adds.
