Sexual assault happened after victim left the venue of a fair
PJ police have arrested a 27-year-old man suspected of raping a 19-year-old woman at knifepoint in Faro.
The case dates back to October 20, 2023 when the victim reported the incident to authorities.
According to PJ police, the woman was approached by an “unknown individual” as she was leaving the venue where a fair was taking place. “At that time, she was coerced into sexual acts at knifepoint,” says the criminal police force.
“The sexual assault occurred in a secluded public area, making it impossible for the victim to seek help from any passersby,” the PJ statement adds.
The suspect is due to be heard in court by a judge.
