Designer Outlet Algarve expands, welcoming 25 new stores

The planned project expansion will add approximately 4,000m2 of Gross Lettable Area by the summer of 2025.

Designer Outlet Algarve, the premium outlet village in Loulé, has begun its expansion project, promising to elevate visitors’ shopping experience.

The planned expansion will add approximately 4,000m2 of Gross Lettable Area (GLA) by the summer of 2025, including 25 new stores and a café. The space will, therefore, have a total GLA of 17,000m2 and an enhanced portfolio of premium brands, with more than 80 fashion and lifestyle stores.

More than half (51%) of the annual visitors to the Designer Outlet Algarve are foreigners, with the United Kingdom, Brazil, Spain, France, and Ireland being the main countries of origin. The remaining 49% are Portuguese, with nearly 20% coming from outside the area of influence and other regions of Portugal.

In the last nine months, compared to the same period of the previous year, ROS Retail Outlet saw a 13.2% increase in revenue and a 6.3% increase in traffic.

“We are very pleased with the path Designer Outlet Algarve has taken over the last few years. It is with immense pride that we witness its growth and look forward to this expansion, which will consolidate Designer Outlet Algarve as the main premium outlet village in Portugal”, says Thomas Reichenauer, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ROS Retail Outlet Shopping.

Reinforcing its positioning in the South of Portugal and Spain, the main architectural features of the area will include a new square with a fountain that combines modern and traditional elements of the region. This will be a significant attraction for events held at the location.

“The expansion of the meeting area will allow us to enrich the current selection of premium brands and meet the growing needs of customers and brands. In recent years, Designer Outlet Algarve has undergone a significant upgrade, with the addition of well-known brands like Karl Lagerfeld, Boss, Invicta, Façonnable, Hackett London, Adolfo Dominguez, GANT, and more,” stated Thomas Reichenauer.

The Designer Outlet Algarve expansion work will comply with the highest standards of sustainable construction management to meet BREEAM requirements. In 2022, the space was recognised with the international BREEAM-In-Use certificate, a leading method for analysing sustainability. It received “Very Good” and “Excellent” ratings for asset performance and building management, respectively.

It is estimated that expanding the meeting area will also create around 150 new direct and indirect jobs in the region. This will help boost the local community’s economic growth and support sustainable development.

Designer Outlet Algarve, which opened in November 2017, offers over 70 fashion and lifestyle brands, including Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Levi’s, Calvin Klein, Bimba y Lola, Guess, Adidas, Puma, Asics, Timberland, and more. These brands offer discounts ranging from 30% to 70% throughout the year.

The outlet is part of the large Algarve Commercial Complex, which includes the MAR Shopping Algarve shopping centre, an outdoor leisure area and the only IKEA store in the region.
