Tabloid Correio da Manhã has given over a full page today on an article on the 80th birthday bash of former BES president Ricardo Salgado – already condemned to jail terms in at least two cases, but still a free man, principally because he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. CM stresses that there are “thousands of Portuguese” living in the area of Aubonne, where Mr Salgado is staying (the guest of his son in law, billionaire Philippe Ammon), and they are not happy that, for him, life goes on more or less as it always has, while for those who lost their life savings when BES collapsed “life stopped”.
