CASA Social Club goes Hawaiian

The best dressed members were presented with bottles of Malibu

Following the “great success” of its imitation Hawaiian Luau in 2023, CASA Social Club repeated the same event this year on June 21.

Like last year, CASA had a full complement of 30 people booked – the maximum capacity of the outside area at O Choupana, near Mexilhoeira Grande. However, some members were unable to attend and only 21 made it.

Said a CASA spokesperson: “As food (which the club naturally had to pay for) had been prepared for 30 people, we had more than sufficient to eat, and a few ‘doggy bags’ were taken home. The food was as superb as we remembered from last year and there was plenty of it.”

After the main course was completed, member Glenda (a dance teacher in some former life) led a class of Hawaiian dancing to the tune of “My Little Grass Shack“, which was enjoyed by those not taking part almost as much as by those who did!

This episode of audience participation was followed by a demonstration (in a fairly strong wind) of “Poi ball twirling” which drew great applause.

The staff then brought out a selection of desserts, including an excellent chocolate cake, and then finally coffee was served.

The most entertainingly dressed members were presented with bottles of Malibu for their efforts.

Thanks went  to Mónica and her staff for the excellent service.

CASA’s next event will be a summer evening dinner at O Tasco, near Mexilhoeira Grande, on July 24. More information at www.casasocial.club
