Bus stops are equipped with USB ports for charging mobile devices
The municipal council of Lagoa has installed 21 new bus stops, having used the opportunity to highlight the borough’s beauty with images of its most iconic spots.
These new bus stops are located in Ferragudo (5), Estômbar and Parchal (13), and Lagoa and Carvoeiro (3) and are part of a “new generation of urban furniture,” says the local council, adding that they are equipped with USB ports so that people can charge their mobile devices while waiting for buses.
“In addition to being functional, the shelters are decorated with traditional elements and images of well-known local sites and beaches, promoting the region to residents and visitors alike,” the council says in a statement to the press.
The local authority adds that the project follows in the footsteps of a similar initiative carried out in 2021, when 14 new bus stops were installed in Porches. This earlier project had been inspired by a citizen’s proposal during the people’s budget (Orçamento Participativo, or OP) of that year.
“The municipality of Lagoa plans to continue replacing old and deteriorating bus stops across the borough, using them to further promote the area’s attractions,” the council says.
