Casa de Mondo’s summer soirée success

Funds were raised for Alerta Forest Fire Alert and Tiny Shelter Albufeira

Last Wednesday, July 10, the Portugal Resident was delighted to support and attend a summer soirée charity fundraising event at Casa de Mondo Guest House in Boliqueime, to raise funds for two important, local charities: Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal/Forest Fire Alert and Tiny Shelter Albufeira.

Organised and hosted by Harriet Grant Pena from Casa de Mondo, her husband Mondo, family and friends, the evening was very well attended with over 100 guests enjoying the festivities. A ticket event, the evening offered wine tasting from Farming Futures, street food from Las Chicas del Sabor and The Farm House Project, sweet treats were served by Jorm Sweets, and music and drinks provided by Portugal Rocks.

The event was covered by Channel 4’s “A New Life in The Sun”, Nick Godliman from 2Algarve and 2Roam and Karyn Real and Melanie Kendall from Portugal Resident.

Bouquets were presented to key figures including Isabel Searle from Tiny Shelter Albufeira, and Debby Burton from Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal/Forest Fire Alert, and Manuela Robinson from sponsors Blacktower Financial Management Group whose daughter, Isabel, sang beautifully at the event.

After the speeches and presentations, there was a raffle with tickets purchased by cash donations on the day, with over 30 prizes donated by local businesses including a riding lesson at Monte da Ribeira horse boarding stables, a Sunday roast for two at Tribulum Restaurant and a 90-minute facial courtesy of Erika Harding from Comfort Zone Concepts and SPArty.

The evening raised an impressive €2,150 for Associação Alerta de Incêndio Florestal, supporting the Bombeiros (firefighters), and €1,600 for Tiny Shelter Albufeira.

Harriet would like to thank everyone who volunteered to help in the planning and execution of the fundraiser and is already thinking about hosting another charity Christmas grotto event later in the year.
