Speaker asks Attorney General’s Office whether CHEGA should see president’s private emails

Still on the minefield inquiry into how Luso-Brazilian twin babies managed to receive €4 million worth of treatment on the SNS (State health service) after the son of President Marcelo made a special request to his father, parliamentary speaker José Pedro Aguiar is seeking the opinion of the Attorney’s General’s Office on a request by right-wing party CHEGA for access to the president’s private correspondance. The situation of the twins was ‘exposed’ by television channel TVI, which suggested President Marcelo had pulled strings – something he has always denied. Mr Aguiar Branco’s request to the Attorney general’s Office, is for an answer “as soon as possible” over whether or not the private correspondence of the country’s Head of State should be accessed when he is not even an ‘official suspect’ in the criminal inquiry now underway.
