Legionella found in annexe to President’s official residence

The presence of legionella (a potentially very dangerous bacteria) in the bathroom of an annexe to the president’s official residence, Belém Palace, has seen the area ‘sealed off’ while “adequate corrective measures are adopted”. According to reports, the level of legionella discovered posed only a “moderate risk” – nonetheless, some media outlets have suggested the bacteria “threatened to infest Belém Palace”, which has not in fact been the case. Work is continuing ‘as usual’, with President Marcelo maintaining his schedule as planned.
