Portugal’s minister of infrastructure and housing acknowledged today that there have been delays revising the Simplex programme (for simplifying urban planning procedures) and the land law (ditto) which he had originally hoped to have sorted by now. The new focus is on August as the month in which revision of the urban Simplex is finalised, and September for revision of the land law. Both these changes will, the government hopes, lead to further opportunities to build new homes as the lack of available, affordable, homes remains, he said, “a national emergency”.
