Faro: FlixBus stop moves to Próximo Bus Terminal

Passenger complaints led to talks with the municipality and Transport Authority to find an alternative to the stop near Largo de São Francisco.

Since August 1, FlixBus has been stopping in the city centre of Faro. From now on, the departures and arrivals of the German operator’s expresses will be next to Avenida da República, at the back of the Próximo – Faro Bus Terminal.

The old stop on Avenida Eng. Joaquim L. Belchior, close to Largo de São Francisco, has been deactivated, so all national and international lines will now stop at the new location.

The FlixBus stop at Faro airport, however, remains unchanged.

This is already the fourth change since FlixBus started operating in Faro.

“We were receiving many complaints from passengers due to the lack of conditions at the FlixBus stop in the city, which led us to ask the Faro council and the Transport Authority for an alternative stop, and we were offered this solution. While not perfect, the new stop is better located, more central, and favours intermodality due to its proximity to urban and rail transport. It is safer and, of course, more comfortable for passengers, as the area has numerous support infrastructures. With the efforts of Faro City Council and the Transport Authority, the change was operationalised before the peak of summer,” says Pablo Pastega, general director of FlixBus for Portugal and Spain.

“I believe it will be a great added value for the thousands of passengers travelling to Faro and the Algarve this season”, he concludes.

Albufeira, Faro and Lagos with new daily connection to Málaga, Marbella, and Jerez de La Frontera

At the end of June, FlixBus reinforced its operation in the Algarve with a new international line from Albufeira, Faro and Lagos to the Spanish cities of Málaga, Marbella, and Jerez de La Frontera.

Additionally, FlixBus has resumed its connections between Cascais, Sintra, Almada, and the Algarve cities of Albufeira and Faro to meet the increased demand for travel to and from the Algarve.

The resumption of this line now serves a significant part of the population on the south bank of the Tagus, as the inhabitants of Almada and neighbouring municipalities no longer need to go to Lisbon and then travel by FlixBus to the Algarve.
