“The improvised lunch widely exceeded our expectations!”
On a lovely, sunny August 1, members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, along with their family and guests, enjoyed a relaxed lunch on the west coast.
The day started badly when the restaurant we had reserved in Carrapateira (Sítio do Forno) announced at the last minute that they could not serve us because they had no electricity.
A few frantic phone calls by our Chargée de Mission, Marie-Anne, quickly solved the problem, and the lunch was relocated to the beach of Monte Clérigo, near Aljezur, where the owner of the locally famous restaurant O Sargo kindly found space for our party of 20 guests.
Although we knew O Sargo’s excellent reputation, the improvised lunch that followed widely exceeded our expectations! We were served a large selection from their menu: four different salads (Greek, Caesar, Shrimp and Sargo), a salmorejo, some gyozas, a dish of gnocchi with duck breast, a black rice with scallops and a delicious ceviche. Even our vegan guests had a very enjoyable meal. The attentive and smiling service complemented an ideal sophisticated beach lunch.
The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, as an International Association of Gastronomy established in over 75 countries, always welcome new enthusiastic members, amateurs and professionals who share the same values of quality, fine dining, conviviality, the encouragement of the culinary arts and the pleasures of the table.
