23-year-old gunned down in Barreiro in broad daylight

Suspects “in parts uncertain”

A 23-year-old man was gunned down ‘in broad daylight’ in Alto Seixalinho, Barreiro (Lisbon outskirts) yesterday afternoon.

According to reports citing an official source for PSP police, there was “an exchange of fire between three men (…) one against two”. All the men clearly were armed.

For the time being “the motive for the attack is unknown”, writes Correio da Manhã tabloid.

The injured young man was taken by locals at the scene to nearby Hospital do Barreiro – dying there from his injuries.

The two suspects fled the scene, and are being sought by authorities.

PJ police are now investigating.

PSP established a perimetre around the scene in Avenida Movimento das Forças Armadas for forensic teams to gather evidence.
