Lagoa’s event focusing on conventual sweets is free to visit
Lagoa is preparing to host the milestone 20th edition of its ‘Mostra dos Doces Conventuais’, an event which puts traditional conventual sweets in the spotlight.
Due to take place at the town’s São José convent between August 29 and September 1, the event will feature conventual sweets which are made following the recipes of nuns who lived in Portuguese convents and monasteries.
There will also be cakes, liqueurs, jams, honey and other local products on display.
A wide range of entertainment and cultural events are also planned during the show, including demonstrations on how to make some of the Algarve’s most famous conventual sweets, as well as confectionary workshops for children.
One of the highlights promises to be an exhibition by Ana Remígio, Lagoa’s successful award-winning cake designer, entitled ‘Açucár Encantado’ (Enchanted Sugar).
The event, which will be free to visit, will run from 7pm to midnight every day.
