CP schedules yet another train strike

CP (Comboios de Portugal) has been waging strike after strike in the interests of winning better pay and conditions. Trains are currently subject to industrial action until August 31 – and now unions have delivered another pre-strike notice, to extend their working-to-rule from August 29 to September 9. In other words, there will be a form of ‘double striking’ between August 29 to 31, and then ‘another strike’, until September 9. It is details like this that saw the prime minister’s announcement of a €20 rail pass put into perspective. Critics said “what is the point of a rail pass if none of the trains are running?!”
