The PSP District Command of Faro is celebrating its anniversary “in honour of its commitment to democracy and the people of the Algarve region”.
The 137th-anniversary celebrations of Faro’s District Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) are taking place in Portimão today, August 27, in honour of its commitment to democracy and the people of the Algarve region.
The auditorium of the Portimão Museum is the chosen venue for a formal event set to begin at 15h00 under the guidance of Telmo Correia, the Secretary of State for Internal Administration.
Superintendent Luís Miguel Ribeiro Carrilho, National Director of the PSP, Superintendent Dário Prates, District Commander of the PSP of Faro, and Álvaro Bila, Mayor of Portimão, will participate.
The ceremony will include the presentation of medals and commendations to PSP agents who showed exceptional dedication to their mission.
From 20h00, an exhibition of police equipment can be visited next to the Antiga Lota de Portimão (Portimão’s former Fish market), followed at 22h00 by a police dog training demonstration.
It is worth remembering that the installation of a video surveillance system in Faro was announced last year at the ceremony marking the 136th anniversary of Faro’s District Command of the PSP.
The surveillance network was inaugurated this morning at 11h00 during a ceremony attended by Faro Mayor Rogério Bacalhau and Secretary of State for Internal Administration Telmo Correia.
