Nouvelle Vague performs in Albufeira on December 12

The French band is playing seven concerts in Portugal as part of its global tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of its first album.

French group Nouvelle Vague will visit Portugal in December as part of a global tour marking the 20th anniversary of their first studio album.

The band is set to give seven concerts nationwide, including in Lisbon, Porto, Guimarães, Figueira da Foz, Albufeira, Fundão, and Ponta Delgada.

The band’s tour in Portugal begins on December 10 at the Centro de Artes e Espetáculos (CAE) in Figueira da Foz. It then heads to Albufeira on the 12th to perform at the Palácio de Congressos.

The next day, Nouvelle Vague goes to Lisbon, where they perform at Lisboa ao Vivo (LAV) and on the 14th, they head to Fundão for a show at the Octógono space.

On the 15th, they perform in Guimarães at the Vila Flor Cultural Center, and on the 16th at Casa da Música in Porto.

The tour’s farewell concert to Portugal will take place on December 17 in the Azores, where they will perform at the Teatro Micaelense in Ponta Delgada (on the island of São Miguel).

Nouvelle Vague’s world tour comes 20 years after the release of their first album of the same name that propelled them to fame.

Marc Collin, co-founder of the movement with the late Olivier Libaux, says – quoted in a statement – that he never thought that the bold idea of paying tribute to the writing of songs from the post-punk era with bossa nova would give rise to a true phenomenon of reinvention and global creativity.

Nouvelle Vague’s influence, with its unique versions of songs, found new audiences and inspired other artists. “This collective’s project gave birth to a new way of listening to and interpreting post-punk classics, something that continues to this day and which led Marc Collin to return to the studio to record the project’s fifth album, «Should I Stay Or Should I Go?”, released last February”, highlight the promoters of the tour in Portugal.

Tickets are now available at official points of sale.
