Not hosting the Portuguese GP “would be stupid because everyone loves Portimão and the track,” the two-time MotoGP says
Two-time reigning MotoGP champion Pecco Bagnaia has called for the motorcycle road racing championship to remain in the Algarve at a time when the region is rumoured to be at risk of being removed from the 2025 calendar.
“It would be stupid because everyone loves Portimão and the track. It is one of the best tracks we have and it would be very strange not to race there. I hope they reconsider and we can continue to race in Portimão,” the Italian racer told SportTV in Aragon, Spain.
Bagnaia is the latest MotoGP racer to publicly support the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix after Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira criticised the Portuguese government for failing to provide the necessary support to keep the championship in Portugal.
