Two more Russian ships spend four days passing through Portuguese territorial waters

The Portuguese Navy has been busy again ‘accompanying’ Russian vessels as they slowly navigate Portuguese territorial waters. This time it was tankers, the Yaz and General Skobelov, both of them long trips.  It is unclear where they may have stopped since setting sail: according to ship tracking website marinetraffic.com, the Yaz left St Petersberg in July, where she will be returning on or around September 15, while the General Skobelev left BALTIYSK in the Baltic Sea, and is also bound for St Petersberg, to arrive equally on or around September 15. In its latest communiqué, the Navy stressed how the monitoring of these vessels “guarantees the defence and security of maritime spaces and contributes to the protection of Portuguese interests and those of their critical infrastructures”.
