Five earthquakes with magnitudes between Richter scale 1.7 and 2.3 were felt this morning on the island of Terceira in the Azores – four of which within the space of seven minutes, as part of the ongoing seismovolcanic crisis, the Azores Seismovolcanic Information and Surveillance Centre (CIVISA) has said. According to CIVISA, the four consecutive tremors were recorded between 12:59 local time (11:59 in Lisbon) and 13:06 and were felt in the district of Angra do Heroísmo. The events “are part of the seismic-volcanic crisis that has been underway on Terceira island since June 2022“, said CIVISA, which “continues to monitor the evolution of the situation”.
