Bella Acapella back to rehearsing!

Bella Acapella chorus have returned to rehearsals for three concerts in September and October ahead of its participation in the European Barbershop Convention in May 2025.

“All our efforts will be focused on those preparations that always mean hard work, sweat and fun,” the chorus says in a statement. “Then our objective will be to work on our competition songs for next year, since thanks to our 2024 gold medal in Spain, we are qualified to go and compete at the European Barbershop Convention in Helsingborg, Sweden in May 2025.”

Participating in the competition comes with “quite a high cost” for registration, travel and accommodation, which is why Bella Acapella has launched an online fundraiser at www.gofundme.com (‘Help Bella Acapella’).

The chorus has also launched a new website (www.bellaacapella.pt) with new features, such as the possibility to sign up for a newsletter which will be sent out three to four times a year.

Meanwhile, Bella Acapella are always open to singers interested in trying out. An open rehearsal is held on the first Wednesday of every month, with the next scheduled for October 2. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Re-Criativa Association on Rua da República, 14, in Olhão.

Meanwhile, the chorus’ next concert is  scheduled for this Saturday (September 14) at the Bordeira Com Vida Festival in Santa Bárbara de Nexe, Faro, from 4pm, with free admission. This will be followed by a performance at Tavira’s Carmo church on Saturday, October 5 at 6pm, with tickets costing €8 (academiamusicatavira@gmail.com).
