New MRI Unit in Loulé is expected to offer “faster and easier access to this advanced diagnostic technology”
The Algarve Biomedical Centre (ABC) will inaugurate a cutting-edge MRI Unit in Loulé on Friday, September 27, which it says represents a “significant step forward for the region” and strengthens its “commitment to excellence and scientific development”.
Located within the ABC Imaging Lab in Loulé, the new unit will aim to boost clinical research in the Algarve by providing “high-quality MRI scans,” in close collaboration with the Local Health Unit (ULS Algarve).
The facility will offer “faster and easier access to this advanced diagnostic technology, crucial for monitoring and diagnosing various medical conditions,” the ABC says.
“The inauguration of this unit not only grants the local population access to state-of-the-art MRI services but also solidifies the Algarve’s reputation as a hub for health innovation and research. The MRI Unit will work closely with research groups from the Algarve’s Local Health Unit and the University of Algarve’s Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, driving the development of new techniques and approaches in healthcare,” it adds.
Manning the unit will be a “highly specialised team” which will accompany patients through every step of the process, providing them “maximum safety and confidentiality.”
Cited in the press release, ABC president Pedro Castelo-Branco says the new unit “represents a crucial step in our mission to provide high-quality healthcare services and support scientific research in the region.
“We are excited to offer the local community access to cutting-edge technology, contributing to the growth of research in the Algarve,” he adds.
The inauguration ceremony will include a guided tour of the new facility which will begin at 2.30pm at the ABC’s Imaging Unit in Loulé.
The Algarve Biomedical Center is a unit formed through a consortium established between the Algarve University Hospital Center (CHUA) and the University of Algarve (UAlg). According to its website, its main mission is to “create, transmit, and disseminate a culture of research and development, contributing to the training of highly qualified and differentiated professionals.”
