PJ police have arrested a 21-year-old woman today over the death of her boyfriend, in Montemor-o-Novo on August 22. The boyfriend was transported to hospital with a knife wound to his abdomen. Before he died, he is understood to have told first responders that he stabbed himself trying to cut open a water melon, but police did not believe the account, believing this was much more linked to an incident of domestic violence. The young woman faces the charge of ‘qualified murder’. She will be presented before a magistrate to hear bail terms.
