Portugal’s pensioners take to streets in October, demanding more support for cultural activities

MURPI, the acronym for the national confederation of retired people, pensioners and the elderly, has announced it will hold a march in Lisbon in October to demand more support for associations, through the creation of funding lines for recreational and cultural activities. As MURPI president Isabel Gomes explains: “It is essential that our old people do not remain isolated or alone, and that they have as much company as possible”. The march has been scheduled for October 17, between Saldanha and Campo Pequeno.
