Children returning to school post-stabbing horror

The children injured in this week’s shock stabbing at Azambuja school are slowly returning to classes. Even the 12-year-old worst hurt in the attack has been discharged from hospital, albeit she is not yet back at school. Meantime, praise is being heaped on  school auxiliary, Dona Fátima, who threw herself on top of the boy as he indiscriminately stabbed fellow pupils, “ensuring that the consequences were not even more serious”. According to reports, even the boy thanked Dona Fátima for stopping his rampage, which his parents have blamed on a history of ‘bullying and humiliations as a result of (the child’s) physical characteristics’. For now the boy’s future is under consideration – but the school at least is beginining to return to normal.
