The works on the Ponte Nova started on Monday, September 16, causing substantial traffic queues as only one lane has been open for circulation.
If commuting between Portimão and Lagoa was already stressful, especially during peak hours, it has become even more difficult since Monday, September 16, since inspection work began on the tie rods of the Ponte Nova, which connects the two municipalities.
Due to this circumstance, the bridge only had one lane available for all car traffic, with drivers having to travel alternately.
This has led to huge queues forming in both directions, with drivers having to wait, in many cases, half an hour, an hour or even more to cross this vital access.
The news is not encouraging for them since, according to the company Rotas do Algarve, the work will continue until the end of this year.
Therefore, some constraints will continue to occur, such as the narrowing of the road or, as currently happening, providing only one lane, with circulation taking place alternately.
