With a great deal of acrimony spent by both sides, the leaders of the government (Luís Montenegro) and the largest party in Opposition (Pedro Nuno Santos) have finally sealed a date for discussion of the State Budget for 2025 – a document that President Marcelo is understood to insist MUST pass, or he will dissolve parliament – again – and call new elections. The date is 3pm on Friday (September 27) – ensuring some kind of statement could be ready in time for the evening’s news bulletins.
