Impact Hackers invites professionals from all fields to create solutions that increase the number of foster families
“It’s time to act!” From September 27 to 29, the solidarity and technological community of the Algarve is preparing to revolutionise the way “urgent social issues” are tackled.
Geek Sessions Faro and the Local Foundation, in collaboration with the University of the Algarve, Algarve STP, and Algarve Evolution, present Impact Hackers, a solidarity code marathon that “promises to shake up conventions and generate real change”.
The institution AIPAR, dedicated to the well-being of children and young people, faces a critical challenge: the difficulty in attracting foster families. “Prolonged institutionalisation cannot be the norm; it’s time to turn the tables. But how? By uniting brilliant minds and applying innovative solutions to connect hearts willing to foster,” say organisers.
Over three intense days, professionals from different areas – ranging from programmers, designers, marketing professionals, educators, psychologists, students to committed citizens – will join forces to develop prototypes of solutions that can significantly increase the number of foster families. “It’s not just about code; it’s about multidisciplinary collaboration, building bridges, creating hope, and changing lives”.
Understanding that many people may hesitate to join causes like this because they don’t feel prepared or fear confronting the unknown, Impact Hackers emphasises that the event values everyone’s participation. The goal is to welcome contributions, ideas, and thoughts from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of their previous experience.
Every unique perspective is important and can make a difference in creating solutions that positively impact society.
The event, to be held at the UALG TEC CAMPUS, Universidade do Algarve, Campus da Penha, is flexible and allows participation in specific parts of the marathon. Even if you cannot be present for all three days, your contribution will be valuable. Moreover, all meals are included, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for all participants.
“This is not just another hackathon; it’s an inclusive movement. We believe that uniting different skills combined with technology can and should be used to solve society’s most pressing problems,” declare the organisers.
This event is only possible thanks to the valuable contribution of sponsors Brasfone, Contentserv, and Flow — who demonstrate the importance of the social role of companies in the community. The commitment of these organisations is fundamental to enabling initiatives that promote positive changes in society.
All results and funds raised will be entirely donated to AIPAR, ensuring that every idea and effort has a direct impact on the lives of those who need it most.
“Join this marathon of ideas and help us create a positive impact. Be the change the world needs. Your participation is important, regardless of your area of expertise!” conclude organisers.
