It’s been a whirlwind start to the new academic year here at Centro de Línguas de Lagos as our online group Portuguese classes are underway again and are clearly as popular as ever. These sessions have proved to be a great success so far.
However, it isn’t only our online courses that are keeping us so busy. The private lessons that we offer are just as attractive to our students, no doubt in large part to the fact that they are flexible – the sessions can be delivered in school, online or a mixture of both, to fit in with the needs of our clients. As an added bonus, many of our new and returning students are delighted to hear that the special offer of two students being able to study in a lesson together for the price of one continues. And with flexibility being an all-important factor in modern life, we find increasingly that there is demand from students from both other parts of Portugal and abroad while spending time here in Lagos, combining a holiday with an opportunity to study.
Our weekly online conversation class has been in big demand but we have also had a lot of interest in conversation classes delivered in school. So, it’s no surprise to hear that another one is being arranged to start in October. The in-school class is aimed at students who have completed level A1. The focus of these classes will be to get people talking in Portuguese using the language they have learned so far, in informal discussions guided by the teacher. The aim is to encourage learners to communicate effectively in Portuguese on the understanding that it doesn’t need to be perfect to be understood. So, with that in mind, we run sessions where our students can develop their speaking skills and the confidence to use them outside the classroom.
