Vilamoura Marina receives two awards at Yacht Harbour Association Marina Awards 2024
Vilamoura Marina in the Algarve has been awarded as the International Superyacht Marina of the Year and International Sustainable Marina of the Year by The Yacht Harbour Association.
The announcement was made on September 18 during the Southampton International Boat Show – described as one of the most significant events in the global marina industry.
The TYHA (The Yacht Harbour Association) Marina Awards celebrate excellence within the marina sector and bring together representatives from over 200 Gold Anchor accredited marinas internationally.
To receive the awards, Vilamoura Marina had to comply with a series of “differentiating principles,” it says in a statement to the press.
“To decide the winner of the International Superyacht Marina of the Year, factors such as customer service quality and facilities to welcome large-sized boats, such as supply points, as well as safety, parking, maintenance spaces and social areas, are evaluated,” the marina explains. “On the other hand, to win the International Sustainable Marina of the Year, the most important factors are the minimisation of environmental impacts, waste treatment, energy efficiency and use of renewable energy, marine conservation, environmental certifications, sustainability initiatives and involvement of the local community.”
The two accolades were celebrated by Vilamoura Marina CEO, Isolete Correia. Cited in the press release, Correia said that receiving these “awards of excellence fills us with pride and validates our daily commitment to providing a unique and high-quality experience to our clients.
“In the end, it reflects the effort and dedication of the whole team, which works tirelessly at Vilamoura Marina to ensure that it remains a benchmark of excellence in the sector. From here, we will continue to elevate our quality standards and offer a world-class service.”
Between 2015 and 2017, Vilamoura Marina was hailed the Best International Marina of the Year among all marinas rated with ‘5 Anchors’. To recognise its consecutive success, the marina was granted the title of International Marina of Distinction 2015-2017 in 2017. Its success story continued in 2019 before starting another three-year run with wins in 2021, 2022 and 2023. This year, however, the title went to Portonovi Marina in Montenegro.
