Retired teachers can now ‘elect to make a comeback’

With the country’s schools still short of teachers in various subjects, the government has opened the way to retired teachers making a comeback, keeping their pensions intact and earning up to €1,657 per month. According to the new regime, retired teachers can apply to a platform set up by the education ministry, detailing which subjects they are prepared to teach and how many hours they would like to put in.
