Area had to be evacuated due to ‘explosions’ of two cars
Two vehicles were torched last night in the Penha de França neighbourhood of yesterday’s triple homicide.
The area had to be evacuated (temporarily) due to the explosions of the cars.
The vehicles in question belong to the suspect, on the run still with his father and brother.
Investigations since yesterday’s shootings have managed to establish the identities of all three men who entered the barber’s shop of Carlos Pina in Rua Henrique Barrilaro Ruas at lunchtime, and left shortly afterwards, leaving Pina and two others dying from gunshot injuries.
The initial atmosphere of shock moved on during the day to one of rising tensions – hence the events of the night to which PSP “rapid intervention teams” had to be dispatched.
According to reports, “there was the threat that the building” in which the three suspects lived was also “going to be set alight”.
As it was, the two vehicles “ended up being completely burnt”. There is no register of anyone having been injured.
Official sources have not explained if there was any specific motive for yesterday’s slaughter. Commentary over social media however has explained that the neighbourhood in question “is known for constant drug trafficking and shootings”.
The people behind the torching of vehicles have been described as “the barber’s men”, while the suspects are referred to as a local gypsy family.
The three suspects made off yesterday in a green jeep, details of which have been shared over ‘X’ social network. Police sources have not confirmed the make of jeep however.
