The suspect fled in 2020 upon learning that the court had declared he was associated with a criminal drug trafficking ring.
The Judiciary Police (PJ) revealed today that a 37-year-old man wanted in the United Kingdom for crimes of criminal association and drug trafficking was arrested in the municipality of Faro.
As per the inspectors, the man, who was the subject of a European arrest warrant issued by British authorities, had been on the run since the end of 2020, after a court decision that identified him as being connected to a criminal organization engaged in the global distribution of large amounts of cocaine.
After appearing in front of Évora Court of Appeal, the suspect will be extradited to the United Kingdom.
