Next year will mark 20 years since the tournament was founded
More than €90,000 was raised at the recent Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Tournament for the Refúgio Aboim Ascensão in Faro. Thank you to everyone who contributed, including our hosts at Pestana Vila Sol, in Vilamoura.
Carla Pargana, Executive Director of the Refúgio, and her colleagues do fantastic work, caring at any one time for up to 90 young children who have been neglected, abandoned and, in some cases, abused.

Carla said: “We are very honoured for having, during these last two decades, the support and kind interest of the Robson family, including our darling Lady Elsie. Also, all of their friends that join us annually for the tournament and the annual Tea Party, which for our children has become much more like a family meeting. It is always a huge and important event for them. The support we receive helps us care, at our ‘Pink House’ in Faro, for children who were in serious danger. On behalf of our children and staff, I would like to say ‘thank you’ so much for everything and God Bless you all.”

Sir Bobby Robson and his wife, Lady Elsie, lived in Portugal for three years. They loved it here and always wanted to repay the kindness of the Portuguese people. Establishing the Sir Bobby Robson Celebrity Golf Tournament has been their way of doing that, with all proceeds going to the Refúgio. Since its inception, almost €1.5 million has been raised.
Next year’s tournament will be a very special one, with it being 20 years since the tournament was founded. It will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 7 and 8 at Pestana Vila Sol. If you play golf and enjoy football or just want to do something wonderful for children who’ve had a difficult start to life, then please join us or consider donating. It’s a great event for a fantastic cause.
